Our Evolution Continues – Five Years of WEBB

Five years ago, in the midst of the pandemic, Stephanie Terry and I found ourselves at a crossroads. Both of our jobs had ended, and like so many others, we were asking a deeper question: What is ours to do in these times? Out of that question, WEBB Squared—Wealth through Entrepreneurship for Black and Brown Businesses—was born.

What began as an idea between two women determined to create opportunity in the face of uncertainty has grown into a thriving incubator and accelerator for rural entrepreneurs. Founding WEBB has been an adventure—one filled with learning, growth, and a deepening understanding of what it means to build wealth and community through entrepreneurship.

As we celebrate our fifth year, I’m filled with gratitude for the journey and the people who have joined us along the way. Stephanie has taken her passion for community and early childhood education to new heights as CEO of WEBB KiDDZ, addressing the urgent daycare needs of Chatham and surrounding counties. Her work ensures that as development continues to expand in our region, families and children have the support they need to thrive.

As I step into this next chapter as Executive Director, I’m returning to the same question that sparked WEBB Squared in the first place: what is ours to do in these times? Five years in, my answer is grounded in action—because changemakers don’t wait for the perfect moment; we move. WEBB Squared is a community of "Changemakers in Motion", committed to ensuring rural, under-resourced Black and Brown entrepreneurs aren’t left on the margins of growth, but positioned to lead it.
